I bought the last two 100 rd boxes of .45ACP at N. Versailles the day before Christmas.

I don't "need" any 9mm or .223 so much as I'd REALLY like to get a few of the Federal 550 value packs of .22LR since they work reliably in all three of my rifles.

The Federal Automatch is another I'd like to find as an alternate.

If anyone sees any and lives within say 15 minutes of Monroeville, I'd be happy to give you a few bucks for your trouble if you pick up 2 or 3 boxes I could pay you for.

I was at the Washington PA Walmart on Sunday and they were wiped clean. Nothing at all in the case except some 30-.06 and .17 HMR.

Stopped down at the Gander Mountain and found they had a ton of Federal .223 in stock with a 100 round limit - at $18.99 a box of 20! Screw them and their price gouging. I'm NOT paying almost a buck a round for .223.

Checked last night at the East Freedom Walmart right off the I99 exit.

    No Federal.
    No Winchester.
    No Tula.
    No Remington.

They had several (5 or 6) 50 round boxes of that PPU 115g, which I purchased two of at a different Walmart. But the shit is 14.57/box, while the Federal JHP is 15.97. I'm not paying almost 15/box for 115g FMJ. The two boxes I did buy the other night were a semi-panic purchase.

I'll try Campbell's today or tomorrow.

    ETA: Lots of .223, .40, and .45, but I don't shoot those.

You have two options as I see it - three if you are very lucky:

    (1) Pay $15/50 rounds as it's the going rate.

    (2) Get very lucky and find some for less.

    (3) Never buy 9mm again.

    I HOPE you get lucky.

I remember all the guys claiming they would "wait for it to come back down" when Obama was elected.
I think those fellas are now dust-covered skeletons because it never did. At least not on the retail level.

I have friends and family keeping an eye on ammo cases for me (I know people that work at 3 different Walmart Stores). I haven't had any luck in weeks until New Years Eve. A friend of mine had to work and saw that 2 Cases of 100 Round Federal Value packs came in (5 Boxes per case).

I was there, waiting for them to unlock the doors at 6:00am on New Year's Day. The ammo went straight from Shipping and Receiving to the Cashier. I'm hoping that those 1,000 rounds (plus the 400 I had previously) are enough keep me shooting through the winter and into the spring (IDPA). Once USPSA starts, things are going to get interesting unless the ammo situation changes.

You forgot the 4th option: RELOAD!

Am amazed that so few ever learn to reload.....one can buy a single stage press for as little as $25. Savings of 45 ACP in the range of 50-60% and of 45 Colt of almost 77%. And I never have to deal with Walmart cretins again.

Gun owners for the most part are a self-reliant bunch.....the exception to this are all of the threads moaning about empty shelves. Buy a loader, a furnace and some molds, and never worry about empty Walmart shelves again.
The USA is now a banana republic. Only without the bananas....or the Republic.

This kinda hit home. I said fuck it and bought 8 boxes. $123, I almost cried.

    Shhh... more brass for us.

Seriously though, reloading is almost as addictive as shooting. I love it, it's the only way I can afford to shoot as much as I do.

Check out Lee's classic turret kit and start saving your brass.

Actually something I've been considering. Friend has a press already as well as the 9mm die. No reason not to save the brass I have and spend a few hours reloading.
