Default Re: My 1954 Russian refurb SKS

Nice Rifle.
I have a 1951 Russian and a Yugo and a Chinese SKS that I keep in original condition.
Make sure You are not breaking the Law when modifying Your SKS.
Anytime You install a after market Magazine it is illegal unless You play the ten or less game,That means that the SKS can have no more than ten imported parts if You want to customize it.You will need to install the correct ammount of American made parts to stay legal.
Legally You cannot even install a Bayonet on a Chinese SKS if it did not have one at the time of sale.
These are just some of the ways the ATF makes it hard on Honest People.
Also the SKS has the bad habit of slam firing and even going full automatic if it is not kept clean, You can prevent this by installing a after market firing pin that has a return spring as the original firing pin lacks the spring.
