His 870 has a 3" magnum receiver, so as long as he has a 3" magnum receiver he can shoot 3" shells out of it even if the barrel says 2.75", right? The 2.75" is merely the designating the size of receiver on the shotgun that originally came with the barrel, right? I've never known a smooth bore shotgun barrel to have a "chamber" like a rifle or pistol barrel does, but I thought I'd ask first, just to be certain.
