I think we can all agree that there are too many guns in the wrong hands. The real question then becomes "how do you restrict the availability of guns to criminals without infringing on the rights of the law abiding citizen"?

For my money, I'd like to see the laws already in place given some teeth. It's already illegal for a convicted felon to have a gun. It's illegal to use a gun in the commission of a crime. Instead of a slap on the wrist, people convicted of "gun crime" need to go away for a very, very long time. Forget plea bargains, forget rehabilitation, forget social engineering. I don't want to hear about their childhood or how deprived they are. Don't tell me about how society has let them down and how it's somehow my fault they were forced to turn to a life of crime. Just get them away from society until they are too old to even hold a gun.
