Watchmaker, I'm right there with you. Shot various 1911,s for years. Carried a Mod 60 as well. Now aging eyes has me struggling with my sight picture (bi-focals).
BTW I intend to bring up the issue at my next eye appointment.
Recently added the LG 305 on the 60. I opted for the LG 401 on my SA 1911A1.
One of the best reasons I found for these sights was low light shooting at 7 to 15 yards.
All that said I liked the fact I got a good laser sight, and, the low profile did not cause problems with the holsters I use.
