I forgot to mention above, I encourage everyone to storm the editor's email box with letters concerning the lacking details of the article. The article has done its part to put the situation out there, now it is our job to support the cause with sound, relevant facts about concealed carry.

Don't let one Collegian reporter lump us in with a drunken idiot at a concert. It is our duty to point out that carrying a gun is associated with guys like this because they are doing so illegally and carelessly. Most don't even realize that they've probably interacted with many individuals legally carrying, or at least been in a common space with carrying individuals. That is the point. If you are carrying properly, nobody will know it. Because its not brought to the attention of the anti-gunner, they simpley don't know. Their entire basis to compare us to are the petty thugs and lowlifes, the very same one that we wish to protect ourselves and loved ones from.
Write a letter to the editor, tell them that you take your right to carry a handgun seriously. It may not be hard to obtain a permit in PA, but we should stand up to say that we practice to remain proficient, we are responsible by not mixing guns and alcohol, and we do not brandish our weapons indiscriminately (we strive for the opposite). Lets take the high road and stay civil, cite the facts (the Students for Concealed Carry on Campus website is a good place to start), and point out that we understand the power of our weapons, for both good and evil. We carry to protect ourselves from the evil, not to battle it.
