For under 20 yards, it is no problem, the Streamlight 4 AA Poly Pro Luxeon is well under $50 and the LED will last forever.
However if you want a smaller light (key chain size) under $50 check the Fenix line, I am using now the Fenix L1D in my keychain and will serve to almost 20 yards.
