Personally, I would think of this about the same as breaking or bending any law for the greater good... IE: Speeding to get some one to the Hospital, pushing a red light to let a firetruck/EMT truck by... not only are you protecting your self, but protecting the society from having one more gun out there in the hands of the BG.
I would think if the GB try to rob you, you have to defend yuor self by what ever means possible. Wouldnt look very bad to have a cracked scull and reporting a stolen case with a gun missing...
Mind you there must be laws about how much of a threat you feel your in in this instance like in any other. Best left to a LEO or Lawyer to answer.
